We had our first 8th Grade Activities Committee meeting on Monday, January 7, 2019. Our next meeting is Monday, February 11 @5:30pm at the library. We need many volunteers to make the 8th grade events possible. If you enjoy planning, decorating and you want to get involved please join us! There are many ways you could help even if you have limited time. We want to make our 8th graders last year at Hood a special one! Sign up for our committee and we will add you to our mailing list.

*Dance: Parents should plan to drop off and pick up their child at the entrance to the gymnasium. Admission to the dance is free. Students must follow all school dress code requirements. Many students choose to dress up for this event (i.e., shirts and ties for boys and dresses for girls); however, this is not a formal event. Extravagant gowns and tuxedos are NOT recommended. ** The Promotion Ceremony begins promptly at 6:00 p.m. Students should arrive by 5:45 at the latest. Students will meet with their teams in the rear of the Hackler Gymnasium (Field House) to line up for the procession. Students are requested to dress up for this event (no jeans/shorts please). A professional photographer will take a photo of your child when he/she receives his/her promotion certificate. These photos along with a copy of a team photo will be free to students and paid for by the GHHMS Positive School Environment team and PTSA. The photos will be mailed home during the summer. There will be handicapped seating available in the gymnasium. GHHMS ushers will be stationed to help you and your family members find appropriate seating.
Participation at these events is contingent upon your child's grades and behavior. Your child needs to be passing all of his/her classes and not failing any class for the year at the time of the event. In addition, if he/she has frequent behavioral issues at school, the school administrators may tell the student that he/she cannot attend an event. Please remind your child of the importance of positive behavior and good grades
