What does it mean to "JOIN" the PTSA?
We are all very busy people. You may be looking at the PTSA membership form and wonder what it means to be a member. Do you have to commit to anything? Do you HAVE to commit to coming to meetings? Do you HAVE TO be on committees? It's not that we fear commitment, but the form makes us wonder what it means to be a member. Hood PTSA is a part of The NH PTA and the National PTA. Being a member means you will have access to the benefits of all of those organizations AND get easy access to our PTSA information via emails and such. A portion of the dues goes to the National and State PTAs.

Do I have to come to PTSA meetings to be "IN" the PTSA?
No!  While you will feel well-informed, get instant answers to your questions, befriend others and be able to offer "on-the-spot" support to others at the meeting, you do not have to attend meetings to be "IN" the PTSA.

When are the PTSA meetings held?
Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. We meet in the teacher's lounge, right off Cafeteria.

How can I volunteer to be a part of a PTSA committee?
Please go to our committees page to see all the committees our PTA has to offer. If there is a chairperson for that committee, the name of the person will be there. Read the descriptions and decide what committees could work for you. Email us at [email protected] to express your interest. We will forward that email on to the committee chair.

I can't commit to be on a committee all year, but I would like to help with a few of their events, how do I do that?
From time to time, PTA committees will send out notices looking for help on a single event, reply to that as instructed on the notice or go to our committee list page and find a committee, email us at  [email protected] and be specific on what you think you can help with. We will forward that email on to the committee chairperson.

What if I work a full or part time job? Can I still be an active member of the PTSA?
ABSOLUTELY! Our PTSA board all have full or part time jobs in addition to kids in sports and activities. Busy people are productive people. Let us know what you think you can and can't commit to.

Is there a specific structure to the PTSA meetings?
Our goal is to keep all PTSA meetings to around an hour's time frame. We follow basic parliamentary procedures at our meetings. We go over current meeting's printed agenda, the previous meeting's minutes, the monthly treasurer's report, a message from our principal, and then what ever is left to discuss on the agenda.
